Job Information

We are looking for a fully qualified (band 6 equivalent) Speech and Language Therapist with experience in adult neurology, to join the SLT team at Blackheath.
The post holder will have the opportunity to further develop their skills and expertise in assessment, the application of rehabilitation strategies and therapeutic approaches to the management of neurological disability.
The post also offers the opportunity to become involved in audit, service based research, training, supervision and service development – supervision and continuing professional development being actively supported.
Job Summary:

  • working as part of the Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation service multidisciplinary team for service users with complex and acquired neurological impairments within an inpatient intensive rehabilitation setting
  • Carrying out assessment and devise, needs led, co-ordinated programmes for communication and swallowing disorders, maintaining high standards of clinical care
  • Developing specialist skills in line with the clinical caseload, in order to manage complex communication and swallowing impairments
  • Participating in service developments, in-house and external training of non-SLT staff in line with professional experience


To join The Huntercombe Group as a Specialist Neuro-rehabilitation Speech and Language Therapist at Blackheath you will:-

  • Be a HPC registered Speech and Language Therapist
  • Be a registered member of The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • Have specialised knowledge of working with adults with an acquired neurological disorder
  • Have experience in organising and delivering therapy in group settings
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of teaching others on speech and language therapy related topics
  • Possess the ability to work collaboratively within a variety of teams across the organisation
  • Keep up to date with current techniques and developments for the promotion and maintenance of evidence based practice in the field of adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders
  • Attend relevant training and development in order to maintain skills and knowledge required of a therapist working in the field of complex adult acquired communication and swallowing disorders and maintain up to date HCPC and RCSLT registration
  • Have a desire to expand your professional development and support organisational change
  • Have a legal right to work in the UK
