Job Information

The role of Support Manager is positioned within a dynamic team providing high quality care & support for a range of clients who have sustained a brain injury or acquired a neurological illness. Support is provided in the community and the client’s own home, hospital or residential setting. In addition to this it is expected that the successful candidate will actively participate in managing and developing the service.

Principles duties may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring a high quality, client-centred approach is delivered to all clients with an emphasis on quality of life.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director, Support Managers, Supervisors and Care Coordinators to promote a cohesive team environment.
  • Conduct thorough needs assessments, including risk assessments, of all Clients and prepare care and support plans and ensure they are regularly updated to reflect the Client’s needs.
  • Conduct client reviews and reassessments including regular review of risk assessments, care and support plans.
  • Participate in the recruitment and support and train new and existing Support Workers to provide high quality care and support for all Clients.
  • Conduct regular face to face meetings, facilitations and annual appraisals for Support Workers.
  • Preparation of weekly rotas and attending to critical incidents as they arise.
  • Ensure the safe delivery of services for all Clients.
  • Participate in the on call rota.
  • Feedback to the Director regarding the quality of care and support being delivered to all Clients.
  • Work alongside the Director and Service Managers to develop and lead the marketing and networking of the Service.
  • Develop links with other relevant professionals and work closely with social services to develop a high quality service for all Clients.
  • Prepare, attend and engage in regular supervisions, appraisals and performance reviews accepting and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ensure data entry into the online client management system (People Planner) is accurate and up to date for the payment of Support Workers and preparation of invoices.


Essential Skills, Experience and Attitude:

  • An understanding of the needs of all Clients.
  • An ability to keep up to date with current issues relating to all Clients.
  • An understanding of how health and social care is structured.
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to the brain injury sector.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by Support Workers.
  • Experience and training working with Clients.
  • Experience liaising with external stakeholders and other professionals.
  • Experience of working positively in a diverse environment.
  • Proficient in the use of the full Microsoft Office package.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully at different levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a thorough approach to work.
  • Ability to work autonomously and productively as part of a team.
  • Physically fit and able to undertake safe manual handling practices as required.


Desirable Skills:

  • A relevant professional qualification.
  • Strong presentation skills.

Working hours will be 37.5 weekly.
