| Service Provided: | Post-acute rehabilitation refers to people who do not regularly need the services of an acute hospital but who continue to need intensive specialist rehabilitation and are not yet ready to move back home or to an intermediate rehabilitation unit or to a long-term residential unit (17 beds available) Slow-stream (Intermediate) rehabilitation refers to people who (a) no longer require such intensive rehabilitation as in post-acute rehabilitation settings and (b) although currently are not able to return home, might do so within 3 years. (3 beds available) Long Term / Residential Care / Continuing rehabilitation (6 beds available) Out-patient rehabilitation refers to people who are living at home and attending a rehabilitation department or unit for specific programmes of rehabilitation therapy and treatment) (4 current service users) Services to support people in their own homes refers to out reach rehabilitation, case management services and community brain injury teams (3 current service users) |

| Brain Injury Services Essex, which comprises Elm Park, a 17 bed rehabilitation unit and two 3 bed satellite units in nearby villages, seeks to establish an ethos of rehabilitation and care which takes account of, and builds upon, guidelines for the accepted branches of health care provision and clinically well-recognised conditions relevant to its client group. Our residents are enabled and encouraged to live as full and active a life as possible in an environment which is safe, pleasant and comfortable. These principles of 'ordinary living' are promoted within each of our facilities. |
