Manifesto Support Form

Approximately one million people live with the effects of an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) in the United Kingdom (UK) at an estimated minimum cost of £4.1 billion.

People with ABI require specialist rehabilitation services and support both in hospital and the community. Rehabilitation services vary hugely around the UK; this variability is having a detrimental impact on the lives of people with ABI and action is required to change this situation and improve services throughout the UK.

UKABIF have produced a manifesto for acquired brain injury called 'Life After Brain Injury: A Way Forward.' You can read the full document here or a summary here.

We have also commissioned a film highlighting the need to improve services now!

How you can support the Life after Brain Injury? Improve Services Now Campaign

If you are a parliamentarian:

  • Please sign Early Day Motion 292 to support the Campaign
  • Ask your front bench health team to prioritise a review of The Health Select Committee Report
  • Write to the National Audit Office and request an audit of rehabilitation services
If you are a person living with an ABI, a relative/carer, or a member of the public:

  • Make a declaration of support below
  • If you are willing and able tell us your story so we can get in touch with your local press to raise the profile of acquired brain injury
  • Write to your MP and ask them to sign the Early Day Motion to support this campaign - this letter is a template which gives all the details, just add the name and address of your MP and your signature at the end. You can find out who your MP is by clicking this link and entering your postcode  (http://www.theyworkforyou.com/)
If you are a health professional:

  • Ensure that your clinical commissioning group has a named neurological lead; if not request one
  • Review the information and support available for people with an ABI in your area
Please fill out and send the form below and we'll be in touch soon.
