I am a senior brain injury solicitor based in Thompsons Solicitors' office in Newcastle.  I have many years experience of dealing with compensation claims for brain injury survivors and their families following traumatic brain injury.  This has given me an insight into the needs of not only the brain injury survivor themselves but also their families and carers.

I am a member of the Management Committee of Brainbox, a new childrens' brain injury charity.  This is an organisation which I helped to set up with a number of parents with children who have an acquired brain injury and other professionals.

I am the Secretary for Headway Wearside, a Headway group which provides help and support and social opportunities for brain injury survivors, their families and carers in the Sunderland area.

In addition to being UKABIF's Secretary for the Executive Committee, I am also a committee member for the Northern Acquired Brain Injury Forum (NABIF) which covers the north east of England and Cumbria.  Part of the role of this organisation is to highlight the needs of brain injury survivors and their families and carers and raise awareness of the Government's commitment to the terms of the national service framework for long term neurological conditions.
